However, this not so serious rain almost turned serious, like tornado serious. I know, a tornado, in California? Who would have thunk ? I was watching General Hospital yesterday when all of a sudden the super serious "dun dun dun" music interrupted a very tense scene with Sonny and Jason. The breaking news informed me that there was a tornado warning for the area in which I live.
I'll let that sink in for a second. A tornado warning. In California. I have never heard of such silliness.
So I listened closely as they told me that if this tornado warning turned into an actual tornado that I was to get in my basement. "Ok get in basement" I said out loud to my tv. Wait, a basement? Don't have one of those. I think you can get in the bathtub and cover yourself with a mattress, right? I think I saw that in a movie. Then the "dun dun dun" music played out the tornado warning and I was once again watching General Hospital.
Does anyone else think it is irresponsible of the news to a) interrupt your stories, b) tell you that a TORNADO is coming to your tornado free territory and then just say "carry on" like nothing?
yeah that is what I thought.
Not to be all anti-climactic but the tornado warning was over in a half hour so my mattress stayed on the bed and my butt out of the bathtub.

Are you sure you aren't in Texas?! We get that all the time. My favorite is when the sirens go off, that's my panic moment.
LOL, I love how us Californians have no idea what to do when we get a little tornado warning. And this rain? It's causing major rage in me. I hate jackets and closed toe shoes!!!
I think the bathtub/mattress thing is for earthquakes actually, hahaha. Maybe I'm wrong!
or is it close toed? meh.
I believe I saw the mattress/bathtub thing on Desperate Housewives or something like that
yeah all of this tornado stuff is just madness i can't believe it.
and yeah lil' woman it was definitely on desperate housewives, lynette and mrs. mcclusky camped out in the tub, haha.
I haven't seen sunshine in a week! It's all so bizarre.
We get them here all the time in the Canadian prairies.
You can use a mattress but you have to be careful for sharp debris. Hiding in a room without windows and under something like a study desk is also okay.
I can't believe you guys got a tornado warning. I am glad that you didn't have to get in your bathtub and move your mattress. I am trying to think what I would do in that situation and I am pretty sure that I would just freak out.
btw, I actually hate when weather warnings or schedule tests interrupt prime tv shows can't they find a way to not ruin your show?!
I remember my first tornado warning - I had just moved to TX from NY and lived alone and was FREAKING out. Naturally, I called my mom and dad in NJ so they could add nothing to the party except freak out with me. I still don't konw what to do in case of one since there are NO basements in TX.
You need to get away from any windows so if you have a bathroom that is closed off? That will work. The bathtub thing is a good call as long as there isn't a window in your bathroom. If there is, your closet is probably a better call. Oh the things I have learned by living in Texas.
