Wouldn't It Be Nice?

When I was a teenager I would often day dream about my future (heck who am I kidding, I still do that). At that time I had just started dating Jon and neither of us knew what the future held for us as a couple, after all we were only 14 when we got together. Regardless of the uncertainty, whenever I pictured my future he was always right there with me. I would day dream about how fun it would be to live with him. In fact I would listen to "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by The Beach Boys over and over because it seemed to be saying exactly what I was feeling.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Now fast forward some years and here we are living the day dream that I had spent so many math classes constructing. He comes home in a suit and tie, I make him dinner and we get so many giggles from our little pup. Its all too much to take in sometimes. We're really our on our own, together.

Every now and then I find myself looking at the creases that appear around Jon's eyes when he smiles and I get a little lost in a preview of his eventual wrinkles and picture him with some grey hair-he is going to be such an attractive older guy. And then I have to remind myself that no matter how amazing our future may look, our present looks pretty darn good too.

Happy 11 Year Anniversary Babe!

Getting My Ears Lowered

The perks of having your best friend as you hair stylist is that you can have conversations like this as you get your hair done:

Serina: ok, let's keep the length and go for a Boho chic look.

Me: A what?

Serina: Boho...like bohemian.

Me: oh, I thought you were just saying hobo wrong.

Serina: Yeah, because I want to make your hair look hobo chic...

About a half hour goes by and my new 'do is really taking shape.

Me: So am I looking like Bogo sheep?

*insert girly giggles here*

Thanks Serina for making me look and feel purdy!

Across The Universe

I believe in putting things "out in the universe". Which basically means that if there is a direction that I hope my life will take I simply put it out there. I say it out loud and literally put it out in the universe. Now I am not saying that if I say something out loud it will happen (if only it were that easy) but I think when I say something out loud I keep it in the front of my mind more and am more likely to focus my mind in that direction. Ya follow?

Ok so, I was in the car with Jon the other day and I said, "I really want to see Paul McCartney in concert. It is the closest I will get to The Beatles!" And then come Tuesday I find out that my good ole pal Paul (say that 10 times fast), has included a tour date in San Francisco! Heck to the yes! Aaaand it is the weekend before my birthday!
Can I get a "Heck Yes" Paul?
Heck yes I can!

And what's even better is that this will be a historical concert because he hasn't been to San Francisco since he looked like this:

And the best news of all? My bestie Carrie texted me this morning with this message:

"4 Tickets to Paul McCartney-done and done! :D"

WAHOO folks- WAH FRICKEN HOO!

Is there anything you want to put out into the universe? Go ahead, don't be shy.

Secret Identity

On Saturday Jon and I saw Iron Man 2. And it was awesome! (Not as awesome as the first one of course, but what sequel is?) Robert Downey Jr. was charming with a side of snark and the explosions were grand.
Yes that's right folks, I love the super hero film genre. I know it doesn't really appear to make sense; I love Real Simple Magazine, Oprah and animals wearing clothing-superhero movies don't really fall into that lineup do they? But I can't help it I love the colors, the story lines and bigger than life main characters. And it doesn't hurt that these main characters are sometimes played by some very attractive leading men.
Sometimes I will find myself sitting on the edge of my seat, grinning like a fool wondering just what will happen next. And then in some sort of out of body experience I as myself, "do you really like this?" to which I answer, heck yes I do!
Do you have any parts of you personality that don't mesh with the rest of your persona?
Ooh ooh and if you could have a super power what would it be? Mine would be to eat as much as I want without gaining weight, to sing, or to speed read. What? Those aren't good ones?

Ya Know, Stuff

This week seems like it has simultaneously crept by and gone entirely too fast (read: I was this week's biotch).
There are a number of reasons for this:

1. I have been feeling like the underside of a table at a seedy bar-nasty and full of germs.

2. I thought we had found an adorable cottage (yes, cottage) to move in to. It was a cute tree lined street that was founded in the 30's and 40's and it had rose bushes out front. BUT as my mom was browsing local internet news she saw that a GANG MURDER was committed at the end of the street. Let me tell you friends, this took me by surprise. So that one is OUT!

3. I feel like I haven't seen Jon all week because his schedule has gotten all busy and by the time he is home I am three sheets thanks to a shot of Nyquil. So that gives me the sads big time. Because goodness knows misery loves company, especially when misery has such a cute boyfriend.

4. The zits, seriously, the zits just won't quit.

5. I have been banging my head against the keyboard because I feel as though my blog subjects have packed up, gone on vacation and are considering living at said destination forever. Seriously though, I apologize for the lack of content, really I wish I could buy you all a Target gift card for showing your sweet faces around these parts.

Well icing on the cake tomorrow is Friday. So there is that.

Enough about me, how are you?

Baby, Baby, Baby Ooooh

I have been trying to reserve a rental car for mine and Jon's Palm Springs getaway. After comparing prices, models, etc-I decided on one put in my info and hit ENTER. And I waited for the confirmation screen. And waited. Then I took a nap because I am not feeling totally healthy right now. And then I woke up and instead of a confirmation page I saw an error message so I clicked the home page button and it said that the home page doesn't exist anymore.

AWESOME.

So then I hit the contact button and realized that their head quarters is located in England so their phone number is all confusing and long. But aha! They did have an email address so I used that and hoped that they would understand my long rambling email that basically said HELP!

I was pleasantly surprised when they quickly replied to me. I opened the email only to read that it would take a couple days to reply to me.

EVEN BETTER!

So I guess you could say its a good thing that I am feeling crappy enough to not care about how this will all get worked out. I mean it could be worse, your dog could eat the arm off of your leather armchair-oh wait he did that.
But I mean, look at that face. yeah I know, I couldn't get mad either. I tried to put a positive spin on it to Jon and told him that the chair would be one less thing we would have to move in June. He then agreed with me and encouraged Frank to go eat my shoe collection so we wouldn't have to move them too. Very. Funny. Not.

I'm kinda on a magazine kick lately, I subscribe to Real Simple and I picked up Vanity Fair and O magazine at Target. I'm really excited to read the Vanity Fair story on Grace Kelly. She is one of my favorite fashion icons ever!
But there is just one problem. The lovely Mrs.Priss posted this awesome video and I don't think I can ever say her name normally again. (Fast forward to the 3:08 mark to see what I am talking about )

*I am watching Oprah and Justin Bieber is on, hence the title. Some tween is going to be very disappointed when they find my page via the title. I apologize.

What A Deal!

I'll come out and say it, I love to shop. Oh what is that? you already noticed. Oh ok then. Well let me tell you something you might not know-I love old, antique stuff even more than the new stuff in the stores. Last Sunday Jon and I went to Antiques by the Bay to drool over all of the neat antique furniture, clothing, and even this vespa with a fancy sidecar. Wouldn't Frank and I look awesome zooming around town in this?
So like I said, the amount of treasures at this place was overwhelming in the best possible way. Jon and I kept saying how we wish we had a house and a yard-basically more space- so we could decorate every inch with antiques.
Even though we are low on space at our apartment we were still able to bring home some goodies.
Jon bought a small pocket knife and vintage YSL sunglasses (for $15!). I bought two Pyrex bowls from the 60's, two vases and a post card of my alma mater from the 40's.
Here is a close up of the post card:
And here are the vases in action:
Ooh I almost forgot to mention that recently went to a rummage sales/estate sales with Nani and Papa and got some good treasures as well.

This is a piece of Italian pottery that I decided to use in my bathroom to store all of the random bottles etc. that are usually strewn all over the counter.

Here are 7 books that I have been wanting to read for a while now but I have tried to cut back on spending money on books. Truly people, I have a problem with walking in a book store and spending far too much money in less than a half hour. So when I saw all of these books for a dollar each I allowed myself to drop the $7.

I really think I might be hooked on garage/rummage sales...

So tell me, what was your best/most unique garage sale find?

Frank's Day At The Beach

On Saturday Jon and I went to the beach and we brought Frank with us. We had brought him to the beach with us before, but this time was different because this time we were going to stay for a couple of hours instead of just walking up and down the beach like we have in the past. I was a little worried that Frank wouldn't be able to sit still enough but thankfully he got the memo that the beach was for relaxing.
Franker is hanging out under his beach umbrella.
Here he is taking in the sites and sounds.
Oh and notice how he is all wet and sandy? yeah, he went swimming!

We hung out at the beach for about two and a half hours and decided to leave once the life guard got there because Frank was so distracted by her beauty. Or maybe it was the orange cones she set our around her.
I tried to take a picture with my little man but he was still focused on the cones.
So we packed up and hopped back in the car but I don't think Frank was ready to go. What do you think?
I cant' wait to take him back again! I love finding new things that the three of us can do together and I am definitely adding the beach to that list.
How was your weekend?
