Happy 2nd Birthday Franklin Theodore!

My little Franker is two today.
He's my little sidekick, my cuddle buddy, and the reason why I have earned the title of "Crazy dog lady". Happy Birthday little bug!

P.S. I bought him two doggy bagels from Noah's Bagels to celebrate today...see what I mean about the crazy dog lady thing?

What I Wore: A Twist On The Ole Cardigan

Cardigan: A great little boutique called Therapy. It is one of my favorite stores eva
Jeans: Those lovely Gap "born to fit" jeans again. I wear these all the time as you probably have figured already.
Boots: Clarks Boots-The Proctor

Check out my favorite part of the sweater:
It's lacy in the back yay!
Also, check out my dirty laundry on the floor. Awesome.
Do you have any clothes on your Christmas list this year? Gimme some links!

Christmas Hams

As you may or may not remember, my brother, Richard moved his tush to Oregon to go to school this year. He came home for Thanksgiving and then went back to Oregon for finals and now he is back. Since he had to race back to school after Thanksgiving meant we had to wait till he came back home for winter break to get our Christmas tree.
Which meant we had to wait till this past weekend to get our tree. This is something to take note of because we usually get our tree days after Thanksgiving. As you can imagine this was ridiculously frustrating for the little kid in me.

Even though it was much later than we are used to we still had a great time picking out our trees together.
My mom was sincerely trying to get a good picture for her Christmas Cards and we were giving her a run for her money.
Seriously, my poor mom.

This photo was inspired by Holly and her own "album cover art". Doesn't it look like a Beatles album? With the looking out into the distance and what not. I am allowed to look straight into the camera because I am the lead singer. Clearly.

But my mom kept snapping pictures hoping that one would be suitable for a Christmas card. One that wouldn't totally embarrass her.
Our inspiration for this picture was Nsync. I mean, you can see the homage being paid right?
Gosh, I miss those guys. Good times.
Eventually we took a picture that would make my mom proud. Oh yeah, and we chose a cute little tree for mine and Jon's house and my parent's house. Success!

All Christmas Songs Are Not Created Equal

I am a huge fan of Christmas music. During the holidays my car radio is tuned to those stations that play only Christmas music and I sing my heart out as though I were still in my fifth grade choir. This week's episode of Glee also tickled my fancy and you can bet your gingerbread that I sang along to all of the songs.
Like this one by Karen Carpenter, an obscure choice but I enjoyed it nonetheless. (At this point in the show Jon asked me if Rachel Barry was my inspiration for my current hair-do...I'll never tell)

And I totally loved this rendition of Baby It's Cold Outside.

But lately I have come to notice that not all Christmas songs are created equal. Not even close. Blerg.
Take for instance "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Could this song be more of a downer?! I don't think so. With lyrics like "There's a world outside your window and it's a world of dread and fear. Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears. And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom. Well, tonight, thank God its them instead of you"
I mean, WTF is going on here? The only redeeming quality of this video is those shots of a youthful Sting and oh look, Bono without sunglasses!

Sadly, another creepy Christmas song found its way to my ears yesterday. This one isn't so much downer as it is just plain gross. I beg of you to listen to it all the way through just so you can experience how uncomfortable it is to hear about these two gettin down in Tahoe all in the name of a "Christmas to Remember".

What Christmas/holiday songs don't pass the test for you? Which ones are your favorite?

Nani Factor

The following is an excerpt from a conversation I recently had with Nani (my grandma):

Nani: I was knitting some slippers the other day and I found a great show to watch.

Me: What was it?

Nani: Oh well, these people were in a car and it was plunged in the water and they had to get out! But you know, it can also get really gross sometimes too.

Me: Oh was it like a movie...CSI or something like that?

Nani: Oh I'm not sure what it was called, but it was so good. Check on your phone, maybe someone on MyFace (she meant Facebook) watches it too. The people on this show also ate the testicles of Bulls! Oh oh and the other day they had to drink a blended rat!! Can you believe it?!

Jon then pipes in: Oh you mean Fear Factor...from like five years ago?

Nani: Yes, that's it! Great show. I love knitting my slippers while I watch that. So exciting.

I don't know about you but it cracks me up to think of Nani sitting there knitting slippers while she watches people choking down blended rats. Oh that Nani of mine.

Decisions, Decisions

I ordered some glasses to try on from a little website called Warby-Parker. It's great they let you borrow five pairs at a time to try on, its free, its awesome. But I just couldn't decide which ones I liked best. So I asked my family what they thought of the frames a couple hundred times and looked into the mirror and pictured myself in different scenarios whilst wearing the glasses.

And then I took took pictures of myself wearing them. I still don't know which ones I like, so I figured I would just share the pictures with you all.

This is the face/glasses I would have if I were in The DaVinci code. Conservative glasses and classic hand to chin "thinking pose". I totally look like I am solving a thousand year old mystery.

However, the above glasses also make me look like I am wearing a pair of these:
The following picture is my"I'm just wearing glasses to make me look smart face". I channeled Britney S. Pears from Glee.
This is my "your making me feel awkward" face. Inside I am saying please stop hitting on me kind sir wearing the grill. (This happened to me today, a man wearing a full on rapper-esque grill asked me to dinner)
This is my "I am not cool enough to wear such large frames so let me distract you with a funny face", face.
This is quite possibly one of the least flattering photos taken of me. But I think I like the frames best.
Yeah so. That's all. Kudos to you for making it to the end of this post. Well done friend. Well done.
