And They Lived Happily Ever After

As I told you here, I was/am absolutely giddy about all things Royal Wedding. That being said, today was like my super bowl. I prepped earlier in the week by painting my nails with OPI, "Dating A Royal". I found the title appropriate and it matched that famous engagement ring. I also wore my own gemstone ring.
On the morning of I set my alarm and actually ended up waking up an hour early because I was so excited. I forced myself to get one more hour of sleep and then I was up and ready to see some royal hitchin'!

I was the only one in our little household that was up to watch it. I was surprised that Frank didn't want to get up and watch the wedding because after all, he is English. Frank assured me that he sent his regards by way of a card and generous Bed Bath and Beyond gift card.
My attire consisted of my royal pajamas and my Princess robe . And then the moment we were all waiting for... the big reveal.
In a word, she looked stunning.
Immediately I saw the resemblance to one of my favorite Princess brides, Grace Kelly. I thought the sleeves were gorgeous and so unique. Also, goodness gracious, how amazing did her sister Pippa look?
Some of my favorite moments from the wedding were when Catherine walked up the aisle and Harry kept taking peeks up the aisle at her and reporting to his brother.
A lot of people giggled and asked why I was so into the Royal Wedding. Well my answer is that sometimes it just feels really good to be joyful over happy things .

Sassy Sidenote: Um...Meow?

Is it just me or is this commercial a bit odd?

(p.s. check out the snow storm around the 2:28 mark)

(p.p.s. I am aware that I would totally be in love with this commercial had it been an English Bulldog instead of a cat.)

#14: 15 Things About Me

1. I have a very accurate memory.
I can't tell you how many times I have brought up a situation from many years in the past only to creep the person out that I am talking to. I can remember exactly what I was wearing from obscure dates in the past and can usually remember the instance in which I bought said outfit.
I can also memorize a song after hearing it once or twice.

Sadly this whole memory mumbo jumbo was no help at all when it came to academics.

2. Dahlia's are my favorite flowers. Orange roses are close second.

3. I met Screech from Saved By The Bell while I was at Disneyland. On the Pinocchio ride to be specific.

4. In high school my everyone called me Princess. I swear, it wasn't as obnoxious as it sounds. In my defense, my name means Princess.

5. I wanted a nose job SO bad when I was younger. For the record, I wanted Jennifer Lopez's nose.

6. According to Serina (my best friend/hair stylist extraordinaire) says that my hair grows thicker on one side of my head.

7. Also, I have discovered two grey hairs so far...let's hope they don't get any crazy ideas.

8. I love making the bed in the morning. Especially when I walk into the bedroom later in the day and see it made.

9. I was never able to keep a diary for longer than a month when I was younger. Surprisingly, I have kept this here blog for going on four years.

10. I'm a morning person and sometimes it feels painful to try and stay up late.

11. I'm lactose intolerant, tomatoes make my tongue swell and kiwis make my throat itch.

12. I can understand Spanish but lack the cajones to speak it confidently.

13. I'm finding it really hard to compile a list of interesting things to tell you about myself. I guess that is what happens when you have been blogging for four years.

14. I would be thrilled beyond belief if I could speed read and sing really well.

15. I may be a proud American but I have a sick obsession with the Royal Family.

heavy heart

One of my closest friends lost her dad this past weekend. A huge part of me just wishes I could discover the right words to say to make her feel better, to make everything ok. But we both know those words don't exist, its never that simple. So until those words find me I'll make her plates of food, hold her hand and just be there. That's all I can do. It's the best I can do and somehow it still feels like it isn't enough. My heart just aches for her.

If you have an extra second in your day could you please send out a good thought or send up a prayer for her?
Thanks friends.

#13 Favorite Thing Right Now: Parks and Recreation

I have been watching Parks and Recreation since its first season. For the most part it has given me consistent chuckles so I kept watching. Well let me tell you what, I am so glad I did because this season it is even funnier than ever before. For the last two weeks in particular Jon and I have been laughing out loud (or LOL in Internet speak) at this show.

If you want a treat on your Friday check out this episode by way of hulu. You can thank me later.

Oregon: The Latest State To Check Off My List

Last Friday I hopped on a plane with Nani and Papa to go visit my brother Richard in Eugene, Oregon. I had been to the Pacific Northwest once before, but never to Oregon.

We arrived in Eugene to this:
Richard said he felt bad that the weather was so rainy but honestly, I think I would be a little disappointed if I didn't' get the full "Oregon Experience"-rain and all. Here I am in my new rain jacket (Jon bought it for me because I didn't have any "proper outdoor apparel)
We ate at a number of cafes where vegan and vegetarian were the norm. Even though I do eat meat I also enjoy vegan/vegetarian cuisine. Above is my vegan french toast (the toast is battered in tofu batter and the butter is vegan butter) and my dairy free smoothie-delicious you guys!I loved how the rain made everything so green and lush. What's even better is that there were tulips planted haphazardly all over the place. So charming.

Eugene also happens to be the home of the Oregon Ducks and everyone within quacking distance is bananas for their team. Many of the businesses in the area have little nods to their favorite college team. Here I am pretending that the duck foot prints are my own. Its the little things folks.
During our stay we went to a drive through safari-SO COOL! The animals were just roaming around without fences.
We perused some antique shops and saw some neat finds.

We also headed up the coast and saw a beautiful little light house that was built in the 1800's.
And followed that up with a visit to the largest sea cave in the world that hundreds of sea lions called home.
We saw and did a lot. But my favorite thing, hands down, was being able to spend true quality time with Nani, Papa and Richard. Listening to Nani and Papa's words of wisdom, family history and hopes for our futures meant the world to me.
It was also so exciting to get to know Richard as an adult. It hit me like a ton of bricks that he was no longer the little guy that thought I could remove his freckles with the vacuum hose; he is a young man with a great sense of humor and a future so bright and so big in front of him.
To say the very least, it was a wonderful time had by all.

Acne Update:Accutane....ITS NOT WORKING!

Disclaimer: The following post is purely my experience using Accutane and is in no way an endorsement or professional medical advice. I am not affiliated with Accutane in any commerical or professional capacity. Please talk to your doctor should you have questions/concerns about Accutane.

So my previous acne update mentioned that I started a new medication. Well after one month of using Spironolact my doctor took me off of it. One reason being a major side effect is lowering your blood pressure; well it lowered my blood pressure so much that I nearly passed out-twice. Oh and....IT DIDN'T WORK (warning this picture were not taken at all with the viewer in mind)

So I saw my doctor last week and she said that our next line of action was to DOUBLE my dose of accutane. I'm scared to see how my body react to the double dose but more importantly, I am scared to see what will happen if this new dosage doesn't work.

Yipes!

Shrug: Charlotte Russe
Jeans: GAP "Always Skinny"
Shoes: Payless

Music Monday: Songs That Make Me Cry

So this music Monday is all about songs that make my lip quiver and my eyes get misty. Oh come one, don't act like a tough guy-you know you have those songs that make you tear up. Ok, here are mine:

You Are So Beautiful
This is a song that my mom has dedicated to me as "my song" from her. In fact when I was about 8 my mom hired a singer to come sing it to me at my birthday party. This would mortify most girls that age-me being the ham I am loved it. But if I really listen to the song and the lyrics it chokes me up.

God Only Knows (Joss Stone Version)
The Beach Boys version of this is very good, don't get me wrong. That being said there is something about Joss Stone's version that just gets me all choked up, I think it is the sincerity in her voice that sends me over the edge. (I have no idea why this is a General Hospital Sonny/Carly montage but I love GH...so there you have it)

Somewhere Out There
This song chokes me up as soon as I hear the first notes of it. This song was the theme to Fievel Goes West, in which a young mouse is separated from his family. I mean, oye, a young animal without a family and that song? Cue tears now! (Also, this version translates it into Spanish- I know when you woke up this morning you were wondering how to sing Somewhere Out There en espanol-your welcome)

So tell me, what sons make you cry?

#12 Celebrity Crush

I think men are very attractive. You might even say I am a bit boy crazy-er scratch that-boy crazy sounds illegal-let's say man crazy. Hmm that sounds bad too. Anyway, the prompt today is Celebrity Crush. I'll be honest, I have a lot. But the one that stood out most prominently in my mind was Mr. Jon Hamm himself. Well, more so his alter ego, Don Draper.
Don Draper is a cool cat that knows how good he looks in those glasses and that suit. He's a savvy business man but I think there is a heart of gold underneath that good lookin exterior. RAWR! The fact that I am in love with Mr.Draper makes it all the more harder to hear that it doesn't look like AMC has a date to start playing new episodes of Mad Men. They are even talking about airing the next season in 2012. Oh gosh.

Don Draper aside, Jon Hamm seems like a sweet guy-much sweeter than Don that is. Whenever I see Jon Hamm I see more of a lovable goofball, which hey, I am totally cool with. I mean, he is a guy that loves his dog. How can that be a bad thing?
And since we are on the subject of beautiful people I have to include my favorite girl crush, Penelope Cruz. I'm not on team lady love (not that there is anything wrong with that) but if I were I am pretty sure Penelope Cruz would be my type. Yowza!!
Do you have any celebrity crushes?

#11 Favorite Smells

-The sweetest little scent that Frank emits when he sleeps. I wish I could bottle it for all of you.

-Onions Sauteing In A Pan.
No matter what I am cooking there is no quicker way to make our apartment smell delicious than to saute onions.
-Cool Water For Men. This is the cologne that Jon when we first started dating, on our first date in fact. Every time I catch a whiff of this cologne I am instantly transported back to those butterfly inducing first days of our looooove. (Don't barf on your computers from the lovey dovey-ness).

-Inflatable Pool Toys.
I don't know how to explain this one but I have always loved the smell of plastic. Just me?
Hello? Is anyone there?

-Orange Blossoms.
My grandparents have orange trees in their backyard and for the longest time I thought the smell of orange blossoms were unique to their backyard only. But then one day I smelled my grandparent's backyard while I wasn't in their backyard and realized it was the orange blossoms that gave that smell...duh. If I smell orange blossoms anywhere else I am always transported back to afternoons by my grandparent's pool.

What are your favorite smells?
