Baking Up A Storm

I have professed my love for yoga on here many a time. Yoga is such a stress reliever and really helps me be a better more centered person. When I realized that yoga was "my thing" I was really excited because I don't really see myself as a "hobby/favorite pastime" type of person. I mean, I like hanging out with friends and family, reading and taking Frank for walks but those aren't really categorized hobbies ya know? I think it is hard to have hobbies as an adult and I didn't really like that. So when I found yoga and started doing it religiously I was excited to have a thing that I did.  Well this weekend I solidified another "thing" that I like to do: baking!

In all fairness I have flirted with baking before but often became frustrated because I didn't have the proper baking tools. Case in point: the elusive double boiler! Well thanks to the lovely, generous people at our wedding, we have been gifted with all the essentials for a baking obsession.

This past weekend I busted out my trusty kitchenaid mixer put some Friday Night Lights on the computer (I just started season 4) and I was off and baking!
First I made some knock off Ding Dong cupcakes-they even had marshmallow cream filling and ganache for topping! I gotta tell you guys I was pretty excited about these. As I piped the white swirls on the top I noticed something, I felt really relaxed and had a smile on my face. I was practically whistling while I worked-I was having fun. Could it be that I found a second "thing" that I liked to do?
The next day I made some "pancake muffins" and realized that I did indeed find a new hobby!
What hobbies do you enjoy? Do you think it is difficult to have hobbies as an adult?

I am also in LOVE with baking! I have some amazing cookie recipes if you are interested! I am also trying to master cake decorating because my dad bought me a really nice kit for Christmas! Glad you found another "thing" you love!
