Last Wednesday kicked off the first day of summer, some peeps may know it as "Summer Solstice". I'm always one for making a celebration out of seemingly nothing, so when my friend Tiff emailed me asking if I wanted to join her and other friends on the beach for a solstice celebration I eagerly responded with "I'm in!" Thanks to Tiff's dutiful internet research we learned that the Summer Solstice could be celebrated by writing things down that you want to affirm and things that you would like to put behind you and then burn them. So that's just what we did, as the sun was setting our group of Solstice Sistahs (there were 5 of us) put our papers in a bowl and lit them on fire. (Please note Tiff's solstice themed manicure).

Afterwards we lit some sage for cleansing purposes, naturally. To be quite honest we pretty much had a hodge podge of "rituals" and weren't really sure we were doing it correctly. Most of all it as a great excuse to get together and share some laughs and of course, celebrate the beginning of summer! It is my favorite season after all. Did you celebrate the solstice? Which season is your favorite?
